As the saying goes, you are what you eat!
Food never presented any ‘problem’ for me throughout my life as I was fortunate to grow up with a Mother who cooked healthy meals for my brothers and I. However, when I moved to New York City and started my career, I found myself sitting in an office most of the day. My lifestyle changed from active to sedentary and I started to find it difficult to control my weight. I was not alone; many of my female co-workers had been experiencing the same things. They obsessed over these ‘diets’ where one would refrain from eating particular types of foods for a week or two in order to lose a few pounds. I was never familiar with ‘dieting’ before, therefore when I started to gain some weight, I asked my co-workers for suggestions… They advised me to take on a cottage cheese and yogurt diet (popular at the time) for about a week. Despite the fact that I lost the pounds, the second I stopped this diet, the weight came right back.
Does this sound familiar to you?
Hopefully, many of those reading this blog are able to relate to this dilemma – and let me assure you, you are not alone. Shortly after this dieting experience, I started doing some research with the objective of learning how to maintain a healthy weight, permanently. Of course, as with anything in life, you have to exercise common sense and make sensible decisions to discover what works best for you.
This blog consists of my experiences throughout the years and represents what has worked best for me. I am not a professional on the subject of health and/or nutrition matters. I ask anyone who chooses to follow suggestions found on this blog to consult a professional before adopting any of the changes to your current diet.
I am the Mother of two wonderful sons, and I have successfully maintained a healthy lifestyle for almost 30 years. I have also been able to share my knowledge with family and friends, most of whom have adopted some of these same habits. They have strongly suggested that I share my knowledge and experience through this blog to all of you who may have struggled with weight issues – small or significant or those of you that just want to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I hope you find this blog helpful and welcome you to FRÜTABLES – Fruits, Vegetables & Things.

I don’t know if I missed it, but I was wondering if you have any specific recipes or platters that involve the use of Tumeric. I have been reading a lot about its health benefits, and would be happy if it were applied to your style of eating. Thanks in advance for any tips!
